Wood Type: History, Design and Pantograph Production
Instructor: Scott Moore
Thursday Morning, 3½ hours
Maximum number of students: 10
A hands-on workshop where students will operate a small line pantograph and experience the actual process by cutting their own wood type. This workshop will NOT be cutting on the Hamilton Museum’s pantographs. Type high end grain maple woodblocks will be supplied and participants will take home information about wood type and the piece of wood type they cut themselves. The workshop starts with a one hour lecture including samples and type specimens books to examine, and at least two hours of type cutting as a group. Additional time on the pantograph can be arranged as needed.
